The vile flea is a blood-sucking vermin. Fleas are small, dark-coloured, wingless parasites which reach up to 4mm in length. Fleas feed only on mammal blood. Although different types of fleas prefer different hosts, they all bite humans. The main host of choice for the most common species are dogs and cats.
We were recently called to a property in Watton at Stone, where the pet dog had introduced an infestation of fleas into the home. As is typical, the fleas and their eggs, had taken up residence throughout the home, nesting in the carpets and bedding.
Despite their best efforts, using over the counter remedies, the problem only got worse.
On visting the property, we initiated a proposal with a weekly visit over 3 weeks to tackle and eradicate the infestation. The reason for this is that flea eggs normally take between 2 and 14 days to hatch. So as each new batch of eggs hatch, the cycle is eventually broken with our weekly insecticide application.
The weekly treatment involved the use of our professional flea fogging insecticide which was applied across the whole property.
On each subsequent visit, the process was repeated and by the third week, the customer was happy to report that the treatment had been successful, with normal life resumed and no more flea bites!
