We recently attended a property in Knebworth where the occupants had reported hearing tapping noises in the loft area, which they believed to be mice.
After initially receiving the call from them, as the noises were not the typical scratching sounds associated with mice, we suggested it was more likely to caused by wasps.
Sure enough, when we attended the property, we located the entry points where the wasps had been entering close to the guttering.
